High-speed railway opened to traffic, News
The Belgrade-Novi Sad railway, within the Belgrade-Budapest international railway, was opened to traffic today, and the first high-speed train on the route called “Soko” included Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and members of the Serbian government.
The train left Belgrade at 11 am, and according to the authorities, it should arrive from the Prokop station to Novi Sad in about 35 minutes.
The “Soko” train will go 200 km/h
The train on this section will run an average of 200 kilometers per hour, according to the timetable it should run five times a day, and the ticket price during the promotional period will be 300 dinars one way, for children under seven accompanied by parents will be free.
The construction of the section of the railway from Belgrade to Novi Sad began at the end of 2017, for trains with a speed of 200 kilometers per hour, and it cost around 935 million dollars.
The section Belgrade – Center – Stara Pazova, of 34.5 kilometers, was built from a loan from the Chinese Exim Bank, and the value of the contract was $ 350.1 million. The contractor was the Chinese consortium “China Railway International” and “China Communications Construction Company”.
On the section Stara Pazova – Novi Sad, in the length of 40.4 kilometers, the works were performed by the Russian company “RZD International”, and the total value of that project is 585.5 million dollars. Funding was provided from a Russian loan for the modernization of Serbian railways, BizLife reports.
