Elektroprivreda Srbije reported a net profit in the first six months of 527 million euros.
According to the company’s business plans, a profit of 190 million euros was predicted, while in the same period last year, EPS operated with a net loss of 420 million euros.
As stated in the report on the implementation of the three-year business plan of EPS AD for the period of the first six months of this year, the profit is a consequence of good hydrology, lower costs of purchasing coal for thermal power plants, income from electricity exports and cost reduction.
From the beginning of the year to the end of June, electricity production amounted to 17,810 gigawatt hours, which is 16 percent more than last year. Hydropower plants alone produced 40 percent more electricity than in the same period last year.
The average daily inflows on the Drina were 60 percent higher and on the Danube 58 percent higher than in the same period in 2022. Production in thermal power plants increased by three percent compared to last year, but was five percent less than planned.
Due to 79 malfunctions of thermal power plant equipment, unplanned stoppages in production lasted 4.4 percent of the total time, while the thermal capacities of EPS worked 72 percent of the time. The rest refers to the cold reserve and repairs.
In the first six months, 56.6 percent of electricity was produced in thermal power plants, 41.3 percent in hydroelectric power plants, Pannonian TE-TO (gas power plants) produced 1.9 percent, and renewable energy sources 0.2 percent.
Energy delivery in the period from January to the end of June this year was three percent higher than in the same period last year and amounted to 19,210 gigawatt hours.
Of this, 7,384 gigawatt hours were delivered to customers on the guaranteed supply regime, i.e. households, 7,351 gigawatt hours were delivered to customers on commercial supply, i.e. the economy, 1,852 gigawatt hours were delivered by EDS for losses and own consumption, 473 gigawatt hours were delivered by EMS, 18 gigawatt hours were delivered to producer customers and other companies. , i.e. sales through the stock exchange, to electricity traders amounted to 1,134 gigawatt hours.
EPS’s own consumption, mainly for electricity production, i.e. pumping water in a reversible hydroelectric power plant, for coal production, etc. it was 997 gigawatt hours. EPS acquired 1,400 gigawatt hours from outside, 964 gigawatt hours from privileged producers of electricity from RES, and 463 gigawatt hours on the stock market, from traders and from the EP of Republika Srpska.
EPS earned about 100 million euros.
