Director of the Serbian Privatization Agency Vladislav Cvetkovic has announced that the issue of free shares of Telekom Srbija will most likely begin in two months.

“We are ready to begin issuing free shares of Telekom Srbija. All it takes is for the company and its management to carry out the necessary technical preparations, determine the value of the capital and the nominal value of shares, to redefine the contract with the minority owner of Telekom, the Greek company OTE, whereby Telekom will become an open joint stock company, and conditions will be fulfilled for the shares to appear on the stock exchange,” Cvetkovic underlined.

Cvetkovic said there is no deadline for the issuance of free shares, noting, however, that it would be better if it was carried out as soon as possible.

“I believe it is realistic that current and former employees of the company, as well as everyone entitled to free shares, obtain the Telekom shares in two months at the latest,” he said.

Cvetkovic stressed that it is not in the state’s interest to maintain property of the stock it has in the Serbian companies, but rather “try to sell them to majority owners or on the stock exchange, which is even more probable and favorable. The money from the sale is intended for the citizens who are entitled to free shares.”
