Russian Ambassador to Serbia Aleksandar Konuzin said that Russia is ready to strengthen economic cooperation with Serbia, because it deems Serbia the most important country in Southeastern Europe. At the Economic Summit of Serbia, Konuzin pointed out that Russian companies actively participate in the modernization and construction of infrastructure in Serbia, and that the most important project is the Southern Stream gas pipeline, which will give a strong impulse to the Serbian economy, and which is important not only for the region, but also for the whole of Europe. Noting that Russian and Serbian companies are working on completing the reconstruction of the hydro power plant “Djerdap One,” Konuzin added that the important projects also include renovation and construction of railways in Serbia.Â
