The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, said today in a conversation with the Ambassador of Qatar to Serbia, Fares Rumi Mohamed Shahin Al Nuaimi, that the two countries have started a new stage in cooperation that has opened space for further development of bilateral and economic relations.
She welcomed Ambassador Nuaimi and expressed confidence that the relations between the two countries would experience a special rise during his term, the Government of Serbia announced.
The Ambassador of Qatar conveyed greetings to the Prime Minister Brnabić and handed over a letter from the President of the Council of Ministers and the Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz Al Thani.
The Prime Minister thanked for the support and assistance in medical equipment that this country sent to Serbia during the epidemiological crisis, especially considering the fact that the aid arrived at a time when Qatar was facing great challenges caused by the pandemic.
The Ambassador of Qatar pointed out that Serbia is a very important partner, taking into account its strategic position, export opportunities and very good relations with all countries of the world. He assessed that there is mutual interest in intensifying cooperation at the international level and support on important issues for both countries.
Given that Qatar is predominantly an importing country, Ambassador Nuaimi pointed out his interest in importing agricultural products and increasing trade.
Brnabic stated that there is interest in Qatari investments in Serbia in the fields of construction, infrastructure, information technology and agriculture. Also, as she pointed out, Serbia is committed to development in the fields of artificial intelligence, biotechnology, biomedicine and digitalization, which include numerous opportunities for joint projects.
Bearing in mind that preparations are underway for the World Cup in football, the Prime Minister wished the ambassador a lot of success in organizing this prestigious sporting event, in which the Serbian national football team is also participating.
She wished the newly appointed ambassador success on a professional level during his mandate in Serbia and expressed confidence that during his stay in Serbia, political dialogue will be intensified and bilateral relations between the two countries will continue to develop, RTV reports.
