According to the Labor Force Survey, there were 2,835,900 employees in Serbia in the first quarter of this year, the employment rate was 49.6 percent, the highest was in the Belgrade region 54.9 percent, and the lowest in South and Eastern Serbia 43.9 percent, the Republic Institute of Statistics announced.
There were 317,800 unemployed, and the unemployment rate was 10.1 percent, with the highest rate in the region of Southern and Eastern Serbia, 14.9 percent, in Šumadija and Western Serbia, 10.2 percent, and in Vojvodina, 8.8 percent. And Belgrade had the lowest unemployment rate, 7.6 percent.
Compared to the first quarter of last year, the number of employees in the first quarter of this year increased by 31,600, the number of unemployed decreased by 24,800 persons, and the unemployment rate decreased by 0.8 percentage points.
The employment rate of women In the first quarter was 43.2 percent, which was 1.9 percentage points higher than a year ago, and when it comes to men, the employment rate was 56.5 percent, which was 0.3 percentage points higher. Points, while the unemployment rate was lowered for both sexes.

Compared to the fourth quarter of last year, the number of employees in the first quarter increased by 19,100, the employment rate increased by 0.5 percentage points, and the number of unemployed by 25,200 persons, so the unemployment rate increased by 0.7 percentage points.
