Serbia will be in the middle in relation to other European countries with a -8.1 percent deficit

No European country, due to the crisis caused by the corona virus pandemic, will end this year with a budget surplus. According to IMF projections (World Economic Outlook), the largest economies will also have the largest fiscal deficit in the budget.
According to these projections, the largest deficit in Europe this year will have the United Kingdom (-16.5), followed by Spain (-14.1), Italy (-13), Belgium (-11.4), France (-10.8) , while a deficit of less than nine percent (-8.1) is forecast for our country.
One of the strongest European economies, Germany, according to the IMF projection, will have a budget deficit of -8.2 percent. The only two countries that will have a deficit below five percent this year, despite the corona, are Bulgaria (-2 percent) and Belarus (-4.7 percent).
Other countries that will achieve a slightly lower deficit are Russia (-5.3 percent), Latvia (-5.4 percent), and Cyprus (-5.6 percent).
As for our region, the lowest budget deficit, predicted by the IMF, will have BiH (-5.8), and the highest Montenegro (-10.4 percent), while Albania is projected to have a deficit of -8.4 percent, Croatia – 8.1 percent and Northern Macedonia -7.7 percent.
According to the IMF, according to the fiscal result, and compared to other European countries, Serbia will be “in the middle” with -8.1 percent, but that financial institution projects that Serbia will end in 2022 without a budget deficit and will be at zeros.
Next year, our country is expected to end with a deficit of -1.6 percent, which, according to IMF forecasts, will be the lowest deficit in Europe after Bulgaria (-1.1 percent), BiF reports.
