From the beginning of the construction of the dam and accumulation “Arilje – profile Svrackovo” in 2012, this will be the most successful construction year.
The largest investment in the western part of Serbia (61.65 million euros) is financed mainly by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management (91 percent), but, for various reasons, part of the money remained unspent every season.
“From January to September this year, the value of the performed works on the construction of the dam and accumulation Arilje – Svrackovo profile reached 3.33 million euros and by the end of October we will exceed this year’s budget of 3.4 million and that is the first time since the beginning of works to exceed the annual plan,” said engineer Zoran Barac, director of the PE “Rzav” from Arilje, which is the holder of the investment.
Workers and engineers of the company “Hidrotehnika hidroenergetika” from Belgrade, with subcontractors, spent days and nights on the construction site this year, and a team of 120 workers, usually in two shifts, from 7 to 17 and from 17 to 03 hours, managed to perform tasks envisaged by the plan, the completion of four tunnels and the provision of a large slope on the left bank of this mountain river with impeccable water.
This year, the entrance construction of the bypass tunnel was completed, through which the entire river will flow next year, so that the construction of the dam will begin in the dry riverbed. One of the most demanding facilities on the construction site, the water intake tower, is designed at a height of 61 meters, 40 meters have been completed so far, and by the end of December, workers and machines will reach the very top. It is a facility that will be in the accumulation and serves to capture water from three levels, to supply Arilje, Pozega, Lucani, Cacak and Gornji Milanovac.
In addition, energy has been concreted in energy, one of a total of four tunnels, which will direct water to the turbines of the new hydroelectric power plant, designed for a total capacity of 7.2 megawatts. The vertical part of the tunnel for the connection of the shaft overflow and the bypass tunnel was breached. 49 geotechnical anchors were installed in the stabilization of the left mountain bank, and each of those metal wedges, with a diameter of 150 millimeters, is as long as 30 meters.
“Now we are preparing construction projects to make a waterfall next year, ie an exit from a large bypass tunnel, thus finally turning the river through the tunnel and starting to fill the dam,” Barac points out, adding that the degree of completion of total works on the dam is 40 percent, B92 reports.
