Serbia’s imports and exports fell by 5.9 percent compared to last year

Serbia’s foreign trade in the first four months of this year amounted to 13.90 billion dollars, which is a drop of 5.9 percent compared to the same period last year, the Republic Bureau of Statistics announced.
Goods worth 5.76 billion dollars were exported, which is 7.7 percent less than in the same period last year, while imports decreased by 4.6 percent and amounted to 8.14 billion dollars.
The foreign trade deficit continues to grow and amounts to 2.37 billion dollars, which is four percent more than at the end of April last year. The coverage of imports by exports is 70.9 percent, which is 2.4 percent less than in the same period last year.
According to previous results, the turnover of goods in retail trade in Serbia in April this year, compared to the same month last year, was nominally lower by 20.1 percent and really by 18.6 percent, the Republic Statistical Office (SORS) announced.
If we compare the first four months of this year with the same period in 2019, the turnover of goods in retail trade is nominally higher by 2.7 percent, and really by 2.2 percent, it is stated in the announcement.
Industrial production decreased by 20.8 percent compared to 2019.
Industrial production in Serbia in April this year was lower by 16.6 percent than in the same month last year, and by 20.8 percent compared to last year’s average.
Industrial production in the first four months of this year is lower by 0.8 percent than in the same period in 2019.
Observed by sectors, in April this year, mining decreased by 0.1 percent compared to the same month last year, in the manufacturing industry it decreased by 19.9 percent, and in the electricity, gas and steam supply sector by 9.9 percent.
In April this year, 97.9 percent fewer tourists visited Serbia than a year ago, the Republic Bureau of Statistics announced.
The number of tourist nights in April decreased by 94.6 percent. In April this year, compared to April 2019, the number of nights spent by domestic tourists decreased by 94 percent, and the number of nights spent by foreign tourists by 95.8 percent, 021 reports.
