The copper rolling mill in Sevojno is one of our largest exporters, which mostly exports to the European and American markets. Business cooperation with America, as well as the fact that the current owner has both American and Serbian citizenship, was the reason for the visit of the American ambassador Christopher Hill to the company in Sevojno.
In the export of copper and alloy products from the Copper Rolling Mill, which accounts for 85 percent of the total production, the percentage of products going to the United States market is increasingly significant.
In numbers, as they say, it is an increase of 70 percent compared to last year, significantly more than planned with the possibility of further growth.
“In real terms, I think it is in the tens of millions, but there is definitely a growth trend and we believe that the American market will be even more attractive for us in the next few years. I would even assume that we will double our sales in that part of the world”, says Desko Nikitović, President of the Supervisory Board.
The copper rolling mill, founded 73 years ago, is important for Serbian-American relations as well as for the people living in the Užice region.
Christopher Hill, the US ambassador to Serbia, says that 1,200 people from this area work in this factory.
“They work and live here and it is an extraordinary result and opportunity. I am also pleasantly surprised by the fact of a large percentage of exports – the level of 200 million euros and this is an example of good Serbian-American cooperation”, Hill said.
In the facilities of the Rolling Mill, products are now ready for transport by ship across the ocean, which will reach customers in American cities and states in a few months, so even the ambassador did not resist taking a photo of the shipment prepared for Ohio.
