The government signed memorandum with Pfizer and AstraZeneca for the BIO4 project

The Government of Serbia signed Memorandums of Understanding with the companies “Pfizer” and “Astra Zeneca” within the BIO4 campus project.

BIO4 campus should bring together scientific institutes, faculties, but also development centers of private companies. So far, Serbia has signed memorandum of cooperation in the BIO4 campus with the companies “Roche”, “Merch Sharp and Dohme”, “BGI” and “Takeda”.

Memorandum with “Pfizer” and “Astra Zeneca”, with representatives of the companies, were signed by Prime Minister Ana Brnabić.

As part of the BIO4 campus project, “Astra Zeneca” will finance genetic testing for BRCA mutations in patients with early breast cancer and provide support for the application of artificial intelligence for screening for the early detection of lung cancer, according to the Government announcement.

Also, it is expected that in the future there will be more clinical studies of this company in Serbia, given that the establishment of a research and development department is also planned, it was pointed out at the meeting.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the cooperation with the company “Pfizer” and the signing of the Memorandum is in accordance with the priority of the Government of Serbia to invest in science, innovation and the use of modern technologies, among which biotechnology and artificial intelligence occupy a special place.

She added that the focus will be on engaging the Pfizer company to increase the number of clinical studies, education, promotion, knowledge exchange and cooperation with our institutes and faculties in the field of research and development.
