The right time to invest in Serbia, News
The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, stated today at the Investment Summit on the Western Balkans that the Serbian economy is doing well, despite the pandemic, and that now is the right time to invest in Serbia.
“As an investment destination, Serbia is one of the most interesting countries in Europe, especially if investors want to invest in research and development,” Brnabic said at a panel with the prime ministers of the Western Balkans.
Addressing via video link, Brnabic said that Serbia has a good business environment, adding that the British Financial Times declared Serbia the world champion in attracting foreign investments.
She stated that Serbia had a fall in GDP of only 0.9 percent in 2020 and that it achieved economic growth in 2021 of 7.6 percent, while in that year it had a record amount of foreign direct investment of approximately 3, 9 billion euros.
Brnabic said that foreign investors are particularly interested in areas for investing in Serbia – intellectual property, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, adding that Serbia supports those sectors very intensively.
She added that Serbia is very committed to regional cooperation and building a better and more prosperous region.
Brnabic reiterated that European integration, ie EU membership, as well as stability in the region are a priority for Serbia.
“Serbia is a stable country and elections are being held in our country this year, but that will not jeopardize economic stability in any way,” Brnabic said.
The Prime Ministers of Montenegro Zdravko Krivokapic, Northern Macedonia Dimitar Kovacevski, Albania’s Edi Rama, the President of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zoran Tegeltija and the Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti are also taking part in the Investment Summit on the Western Balkans organized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Beta writes.
