“After a two-week collective winter break, 500 employees at the Stellantis factory in Kragujevac have returned to work, joined by a group of workers who were on temporary assignments at the car factory in Poland.

About 25 workers, whose 11-month work engagement at the Stellantis factory in Tychy, Poland, had expired, returned to the Kragujevac factory.

According to the president of the Independent Union of the Car Factory in Kragujevac, Saša Đorđević, more than 100 workers on temporary assignments at the car factory in Trnava, Slovakia, are expected to return to Kragujevac no later than July this year.

These workers have been in Slovakia since 2022, accepting the offer from the then employer, Fiat, to work in the Slovak factory until the production of electric vehicles starts in Kragujevac.

Đorđević is confident that they will join the workers in Kragujevac, who are gearing up for the start of serial production of the new electric vehicle expected in the third quarter of 2024.

He emphasizes that their experience in working and training in Fiat’s factories in Slovakia and Poland is significant, as these factories already produce electric cars.”

Đorđević mentioned that intensive preparations for the start of production of the new electric car have continued in the new year, including training sessions for the workers both in the country and abroad.

While he did not provide specific details, he mentioned that certain production lines, such as those for radiators and exhaust systems, have disappeared, as they are not present in electric vehicles. Additionally, the production line for engines has undergone changes.

He noted that the factory is filled with workers every day from various companies involved in equipping the facilities for the new production cycle.

As announced by Stellantis at the end of last year, the new generation of electric vehicles will be produced in Kragujevac in 2024. Some media reports have indicated that this includes the new Panda Hybrid, expected to be priced around 15,000 euros, and an electric vehicle with an anticipated cost of around 20,000 euros.
