At a time when Serbia is suffering from a lack of workers because many are going abroad, Continental Automotive Serbia recently hired 1,000 engineers. Although they have been working in the world for more than 150 years, they have been in Serbia for the last six – which was enough to employ 1,400 people in Subotica, 200 in Veliki Crnjani and some 1,600 employees in Novi Sad.

“There is a struggle for talent, to attract them, it is everywhere.” It is known that there is a lack of experts, and as a company it is important for us to create a good atmosphere for work. Still, everyone who looks at the CVs of our people, agrees that we find the best people here. When we look for people in some other countries, we get two or three CVs, but here we get 20 or 30 CVs and you don’t know who to choose. Although it seems that there are none, there are in Serbia,” said the general director of this company in Serbia, SaÅ¡a Ćoringa, in the second episode of Danas’ ABC of Business podcast.

The products of this company are installed in the most modern cars around the world, which means that it is possible to find the label “Made in Serbia” in each of them. And while Kontinental is known around the world for tires, in Serbia they produce electronic and mechanical parts.

“The main component is software, but it is only 40 percent of our products, there is also hardware, mechanical part, there is also the profession of testing – very important for us. We are careful with that, we have engineers for that, we also have project managers and those who deal with product validation,” our interlocutor points out.

In six years, as he says, they managed to hire the best engineers.

“We work on the most innovative technologies, because we don’t want to follow trends, we want to dictate them, to be the first.” And it doesn’t matter what company you work for, it’s important that we are a group of people that is special, dynamic, that we are happy when we show up at work and that we do something special,” said Ćoringa.
