Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić said, at the presentation of the “Digital Europe” program, that in the first five months of this year, an “incredible” 1 billion and 340 million euros in ICT services were exported from Serbia, which is 41 percent more than in the same period last year, which “was a record”.

“This area will be the engine of Serbia’s development”, pointed out Brnabić and assessed that Serbia has turned from a labor-intensive economy into a country of innovation and ideas. The head of the EU Delegation in Serbia, Emanuele Giofre, pointed out that Serbia has “progressed a lot” in digital growth and has enviable potential.

According to him, joining this program means accelerated integration into the EU’s single digital market, which will contribute to the formation of Serbia’s European integration process.

“The green agenda and the digital transition are the challenges of our generation,” Giofre said, adding that we live in a time of fascinating digital expansion.

On June 30th, 2023, Serbia signed the Agreement with the European Union on Serbia’s participation in the “Digital Europe” program for the period until 2027.

On the basis of this agreement, legal entities and individuals residing in Serbia will be able to apply for project financing in the European Union and will be on an equal footing with subjects from full member countries of the European Union when it comes to granting grants from EU funds.

The total value of the “Digital Europe” program is estimated at 7.5 billion euros.
