Additional measures to help the state with tourism, which has suffered great damage due to the coronavirus epidemic, should be known from Monday, May 18, said the Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of Serbia, Rasim Ljajic.
Regarding the request of hoteliers and tourist workers to extend their period for another six months in tax and contribution exemptions, and for the moratorium on loan repayment to be extended for another six months, he told RTS that the new package of measures to help the sector depends on financial possibilities of the state.
According to Ljajic, the tourist economy of Serbia, like other countries, will have great damage due to the business crisis caused by the epidemic.
“Domestic tourists are becoming a trump card for the recovery of tourism,” the minister said, and announced that registration for all 400,000 holiday vouchers in Serbia would begin tomorrow at all post offices.
Vouchers are worth 45 euros and can be used by students, pensioners and employees whose income does not exceed 580 euros.
There are currently about 1,500 catering facilities where vouchers can be used, and Ljajic expects there will be many more, Beta reports.
