Serbia, A noticeable increase in the price of corn and wheat on commodity market marked last week

In the week behind us on the commodity market, there was a noticeable increase in the price of corn and wheat, but also a decrease in the volume of turnover compared to the previous week of 19.54%. The primary place in the volume of trading this week was occupied by corn and fodder barley of the new crop of 2023. During this week, 2,100.00 tons of goods with a financial value of RSD 47,613,900.00 were traded through the Product Exchange. The financial value of turnover is 13.62% lower compared to last week.

On the corn market throughout the week, we recorded a weak offer, which was at a higher price level compared to the demand. It was only in the middle of the week that stock market contracts were concluded when it comes to this agricultural crop. In the total volume of turnover, corn participates with 38%. Corn was traded in the price range from 18.00 to 18.50 din/kg without VAT, depending on the aflatoxin analysis. The weighted price is 18.42 din/kg without VAT (20.65 din/kg with VAT), which represents a price increase of 7.62% compared to last week’s weighted price.

Corn up to 16% moisture was also traded at a price of 18.50 din/kg without VAT, corn up to 15% moisture at a price of 18.00 din/kg without VAT, but also corn harvested in 2021 at price of 19.00 din/kg without VAT.

In contrast to the previous weeks, when wheat occupied the leading place in the volume of trading, this week there is a lull in the market. Exchange contracts for wheat were concluded only on the last day of the week, and the offer was extremely weak throughout the week, and on some days it was even completely absent. Traders and mills demanded wheat, and during the week there was also a noticeable demand for fodder wheat. Wheat was traded in the price range from 21.50 to 22.00 din/kg without VAT. The weighted price was 21.94 din/kg without VAT (24.13 din/kg with VAT), which compared to last week’s weighted price represents an increase of 9.49%.

Compared to last week, when there was no trading on the soy market, this week stock market contracts were concluded at a price level of 50.50 dinars/kg without VAT with the calculation of quality, which also represents the price weight. The weighted price with VAT was 55.55 dinars/kg. Compared to the previous week, a slight price increase of 0.79% was noticeable. In the total trading volume, soybeans participated with a 6% share.

Soy with impurities up to 5% was also traded at a price of 47.50 to 50.50 din/kg without VAT, with quality calculation.

Of the other commodities, sunflower meal with 33% protein was traded at a price of 37.00 din/kg without VAT, which is a price drop of 2.63% compared to the last comparative data. Feed barley of the new crop of 2023 with a hectoliter of less than 62 kg was traded in the price range from 15.20 to 16.00 din/kg without VAT, occupying a share of 40% of the total trading volume.
