Serbia is still the largest foreign trade partner of Montenegro

The total foreign trade in goods of Montenegro for the period from January to June 2023 amounted to 2,180.4 million euros, which indicates a growth of 9.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

The largest trade partner in Montenegro’s exports is still Serbia with 95.7 million euros, as has been the case since the beginning of the year, according to Monstat’s preliminary data.

Followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina with 50.2 million euros and Slovenia with 50.1 million euros. The largest foreign trade partner in imports is also Serbia with 313.2 million euros.

China is in second place with 205.9 million euros and Germany in third place with 168.1 million euros.
Foreign trade in goods was the largest with CEFTA signatories and with the European Union.
Exports of goods had a value of 370.7 million euros, and imports 1,809.7 million euros.

Compared to the same period of the previous year, exports were lower by 3.1 percent, and imports were higher by 12.3 percent. The coverage of imports by exports amounted to 20.5 percent and is lower compared to the same period of the previous year when it amounted to 23.7 percent.

In the structure of exports according to the standard international trade classification (SMTK), the most represented mineral fuels and lubricants in the amount of 182.9 million euros, of which electricity had the highest value of 171.8 million euros.

In the structure of imports according to SMTK, machines and transport devices are the most represented in the amount of 428.7 million euros, of which road vehicles had the largest share with 155.4 million euros.
