In Serbia, the number of cashless transactions with cards and electronic money in 2022 exceeded 42 million and reached a value of 1.2 billion euros, which is a new record in the field of electronic commerce, writes Bankar.rs.

This type of trade continuously shows a growth trend, and one of the key topics of this digital ecosystem is the prevention of the gray economy in online trade.

This is one of the messages from the third Let’s talk e-Comm conference organized by the eCommerce Association of Serbia in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (PKS), reports Bankar.rs.

Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Internal and Foreign Trade Žarko Malinović reminded that more than half of payments in the country are still made in cash.

In the context of the fight against illegal trade on the Internet, for which the market inspection within the ministry is responsible, he pointed out that in the last three years, more than 700 cases and interventions have been initiated in this domain, reports the portal.

He also described what challenges market inspectors face when they need to find perpetrators, but also provide evidence for their further prosecution.

Mirjana Vučićević from the Association for Pharmacy and Medical Activity PKS pointed out that the trend of trade in unregistered dietary supplements is decreasing, which was also shown by the analysis of that market via Facebook and Instagram pages.

“The share of trade in unregistered dietary supplements in the market of illegal internet trade has decreased from 60 to 40 percent in 2023 compared to 2019. “This is the result of open communication and cooperation with the sanitary and market inspection, which again cooperated very well with the police and the Ministry of Justice,” she said, reports Bankar.rs.
