Serbian Finance and Economy Minister Mlađan Dinkić said he expected exports and GDP to grow in 2013, which, as of 2014, should increase the employment rate and slightly improve the standard of living.

At a gathering on challenges in economic policy of Serbia in 2013, held at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade, Dinkic said that exports were expected to grow by more than 2.2 billion euros next year and to total 10.8 billion euros, while the GDP is to grow by more than 2%. Dinkic believes exports should grow due to Fiat production, which amounts to 1.6 billion euros and that in the modernized refinery of the Serbian Oil Industry (NIS). NIS exports are expected to grow by between 600 and 800 million euros. The projections exclude a possible commencement of exports of the Smederevo Iron Works and a better agricultural season, which factor would additionally contribute to the growth of exports and the GDP.
