There is no economic logic for Telekom Serbia to pay 600 million euros for six seasons of the Premier League

There is no clear economic logic and market reasons for Telekom Serbia to pay such a high price for something that, by the nature of things, could probably be purchased cheaper.
This is how Nemanja Nenadic from Transparency Serbia commented on the purchase of the Premier League broadcasting rights at a price of 600 million euros for six seasons.
According to him, the state-owned company should make more details about the whole case public.
“Offering a large amount of money for the purchase of exclusive rights for some broadcasts, inevitably has a negative impact on the business of competing media,” Nenadic pointed out.
“If these rights are paid ten times more than their commercial value, then another problem opens up – whether the money was pumped out of the company for some completely different purposes,” Nenadic told N1.
According to his assessment, “this is something that could also be a cause for concern, regardless of the commercial secrets that Telecom, although a state-owned company, has in one of its segments.”
He points out that it is necessary for the authorities from Telekom to announce themselves and provide more information about this case, N1 reports.
