The export of furniture of all materials for eight months of this year amounted to 500 million dollars, which is an increase of almost six percent compared to last year, Serbian Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade Tomislav Momirović said on Tuesday at the opening of the 58th International Fair of Furniture, Equipment and interior decorations at the Belgrade Fair.

“If we look only at wooden furniture, exports in this period amounted to 232 million dollars, which is an increase compared to last year by 8.3 percent”, said Momirović.

He reminded that Serbia currently has concluded agreements on foreign trade with 44 trade partners and emphasized that the potential of the Open Balkans Initiative must be used better, reports Beta.

“The wood industry, together with metal, agriculture and IT, must be the mainstay of Serbia’s development. “For the last twenty years, it has recorded business results according to the criteria of the number of companies, employment growth, realized business income, exports and a positive foreign trade balance”, said Momirović.

At the Belgrade Fair, in addition to the Fair of Furniture, Equipment and Interior Decoration, which lasts until November 13, the International Fair of Machines and Tools from the Wood Industry was opened, which will last until November 12.

At both fairs, according to the organizers, there are more than 180 exhibitors of various products, local media reports.
