Serbia, The number of cattle decreased by 6.9 percent, and the number of pigs by 7 percent
, NewsIn Serbia on December 1, 2022, the total number of cattle was lower by 6.9 percent, pigs by seven percent, goats by 1.7 percent and poultry by 3.5 percent compared to a year earlier, while the total number of sheep higher by 1.5 percent.
Cattle are mostly raised in the region of Šumadija and Western Serbia, 45.1 percent of the total number of cattle in the territory of Serbia, and pigs in the region of Vojvodina – 42.5 percent, according to the data of the Republic Institute of Statistics.
Compared to the ten-year average (2012–2021), the total number of cattle is lower by 11.0 percent, pigs by 11.9 percent, goats by 6.3 percent and poultry by 10.7 percent, while the number of sheep is higher by 1 .9 percent. Final data on the number of livestock by species and categories, as well as data on the balance of livestock and livestock production, will be published in April, reports Tanjug.
