Serbian Government is ready to improve the partnership with the Japanese Agency for International Cooperation
, NewsThe Minister of Finance Siniša Mali handed the Japanese Ambassador Takahiko Katsumata a Letter of Intent today in Belgrade, in which the Government’s will to further improve the partnership with the Japanese Agency for International Cooperation – JICA is pointed out, through the financing of the reversible hydroelectric power plant Bistrica.
Mali, during the farewell visit of the Japanese ambassador, stated that this is a strategically important project, which increases the share of renewable energy sources in Serbia, which is one of the priorities, and also enables the balancing of production and storage of electricity.
In the Letter of Intent, as he reported, the commitment of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Mining and Energy and the Electric Power Industry of Serbia to find the best financial and technical solutions for the efficient implementation of this project, which is also foreseen in the Budget Law for 2023, is highlighted.
The Interlocutors agreed that recent years in the world have shown that further investments in energy and so-called clean energy are necessary, whereby Mali emphasized that the Government is preparing an investment plan in this area, as well as a comprehensive strategy, in which one of the most important projects is precisely construction of the reversible hydropower plant Bistrica.
Mali and Katsumata stated that Japan has valuable experience when it comes to projects in the field of improving environmental protection, and that in this sense, Japanese experience is valuable.
