The production of strong alcoholic beverages in Serbia has been growing at a rate of more than 10% per year for the last five years.
This points to the conclusion that the Serbian economy has realized its chance in this sector and on the global market, they say in the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
Serbia is known worldwide for its plum production. Homemade brandy from this fruit is one of the best-selling alcoholic beverages in the world. Followed by brandy from apricot, pear, quince, raspberry, honey, walnuts, etc. A significant part comes from home crafts.
“It is estimated that between 50 and 60 million liters of brandy are produced in Serbia, including brandy produced in our own households. The largest production is in the Rasina, Sumadija and Zlatibor region,” says Aleksandar Bogunovic, secretary of the Association for Plant Production of PKS.
The export of fruit brandy increased by 30% in 2020, and 67% of our brandy was exported to Germany, the USA, Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiF reports.
